Two Militants from Banned Outfits Arrested in Manipur; Arms Recovered in Separate Operation

Imphal, April 3 — Security forces in Manipur have apprehended two militants linked to separate banned outfits, along with a seizure of arms and ammunition in a parallel operation, according to police sources.​

Woman Militant of KCP (PWG) Held in Imphal West​

Acting on a tip-off, security personnel arrested a woman identified as Khoirom Deepsea Devi, a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive War Group). She was taken into custody from Thongju Part II in Imphal West district on Wednesday.

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of her involvement in insurgent activities, but confirmed her affiliation with the proscribed outfit.

PLA Operative Arrested in Imphal East​

In a separate operation, another militant belonging to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was arrested from Sanjenbam Khullen in Imphal East district on the same day.

The individual, identified as Thounaojam Sachindra Singh, alias Alex, aged 24, was allegedly involved in extortion and intimidation activities in and around Imphal, police officials said.

Arms and Ammunition Seized in Thoubal District​

In a distinct development, a search operation in Khangabok Loukol, Thoubal district, led to the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition. The haul included:
  • One carbine
  • Three magazines
  • Fifty 9mm cartridges
Police have not confirmed any direct links between the arrested militants and the seized weapons but noted the increasing vigilance in counter-insurgency efforts across the state.

The operations mark a continued crackdown on insurgent elements in Manipur as security agencies intensify surveillance and enforcement actions in sensitive areas.
