Two Police Officers Attacked in Palakkad After Breaking Up Group Clash; One Injured

Palakkad (Kerala), April 1 — Two police officers were assaulted on Tuesday near Ottapalam in Kerala’s Palakkad district after intervening in a clash between two groups. One officer sustained injuries serious enough to require surgery.

According to officials at Ottapalam police station, a fight broke out between two groups, prompting a complaint to the station. In response, two officers were dispatched to the scene to defuse the situation.

After successfully breaking up the altercation and detaining one person involved, members of the opposing group launched a sudden attack on the officers. During the assault, the detained individual and one of the officers were injured.

The injured officer suffered a significant injury to his left arm and is expected to undergo surgery.

Police have taken two individuals from the attacking group into custody. However, their formal arrests are yet to be recorded, as per the latest update.

The situation remains under investigation.
