Two Police Officers Injured as Gravel Mafia Attacks Patrolling Team in Rajasthan's Bundi.webp

Kota, May 17 – In a brazen act of aggression, two police officers were injured early Saturday after suspected members of the gravel mafia tried to run them over with a dumper truck in Rajasthan's Bundi district, police officials confirmed.

Attack During a Patrolling Operation

The incident took place around 4 am near the Bundi border, where a five-member District Special Team (DST) was conducting routine patrolling under the leadership of Circle Inspector Ramlal. According to Hindoli CI Sahdev Meena, the team spotted two to three dumpers loaded with illegal bajri (gravel) coming from the Tonk district side.

As the officers attempted to intercept the vehicles, the drivers sped up in an attempt to mow down the patrolling team. “The officers had to leap to the roadside to avoid being hit,” said Meena.

Injuries and Investigation

In the process, CI Ramlal and Head Constable Hariram sustained injuries, while another officer suffered minor bruises. All injured personnel were sent for medical examination.

The dumper drivers managed to flee with their vehicles. Based on CI Ramlal’s complaint, police have registered a case of attempt to murder and obstruction of government duty against the unidentified accused.

Ongoing Search for Accused

Law enforcement agencies have launched efforts to trace the absconding drivers and their vehicles. “A detailed investigation is underway,” added CI Meena.

This incident highlights the growing audacity of the gravel mafia in the region and raises concerns over the safety of police personnel engaged in tackling illegal mining activities.
