Palghar, Maharashtra, May 15 — A late-night outing turned tragic for two siblings in Palghar district when their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding trailer truck, killing both on the spot, police said on Thursday.

The victims, Pooja Vishwakarma (25) and her younger brother Mangesh Vishwakarma (22), had gone out for ice cream after dinner on Tuesday. According to officials at the Palghar police station, the fatal accident occurred on the Palghar-Mahim Road while they were returning home.

The trailer, reportedly traveling at high speed from the opposite direction, collided head-on with their motorbike. The impact was so severe that both victims suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. Officials described the condition of their bodies as "mangled" due to the force of the collision.

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt for the absconding driver.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.
