Hamirpur (UP), Feb 4 (PTI): A devastating accident on the Kanpur-Sagar highway late Monday night claimed the lives of three people and left three others seriously injured after two trucks collided head-on and caught fire, police reported on Tuesday.
The tragic incident occurred near Chirka village, where the collision triggered a massive blaze, engulfing the vehicles in flames. Circle Officer Vinita Pahal confirmed that three individuals were burnt alive in the inferno.
Emergency responders rushed the injured victims to Maudaha Community Health Centre for urgent medical treatment. Meanwhile, the accident led to a significant disruption in traffic, affecting a stretch of nearly 10 kilometers on the highway.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision while efforts are being made to clear the highway and restore normal traffic flow.
