New Delhi, May 11 – In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals following a brief exchange of fire in the RK Puram area of the city. The suspects, identified as Suresh alias Subhash and Manish alias Mogli, were involved in over 50 criminal cases across Delhi.

The incident occurred around 1:10 am on the night of May 8-9 when a police patrol team spotted two suspicious individuals near a parked motorcycle on the service lane of Rao Tula Ram Marg, Sector-9. Upon questioning, the suspects fired at the police team. The police swiftly retaliated, injuring Suresh in his left leg. He was subsequently overpowered along with his accomplice, Manish.

Both criminals have been linked to numerous serious offenses, including murder, attempted murder, shootouts with the police, robbery, snatching, and violations of the Arms Act in various districts of Delhi. Suresh had been previously sentenced to over 11 years in prison for a 2012 case, while Manish is listed as a "bad character" at the Bharat Nagar police station and is a known habitual offender. According to the police, both men are drug and alcohol addicts and resort to criminal activities like theft and robbery to fund their habits.

During the arrest, the police recovered two loaded .32 bore pistols, three spent cartridges, four live rounds, a stolen motorcycle, and forged number plates. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Surendra Choudhary, confirmed the recovery of these items, adding that the arrests had led to the resolution of at least seven recent cases, including incidents in RK Puram, Mukherjee Nagar, and other areas. The suspects also confessed to their involvement in a snatching incident on May 4, during which they used the stolen motorcycle to snatch a gold chain on Vivekanand Marg in RK Puram.

The arrests have brought relief to the local community, solving multiple ongoing criminal cases. The police continue their investigation to uncover further details of the duo's criminal activities.
