Tribute Marks Karunanidhi’s Birth Centenary Celebrations
Chennai, May 12 – Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday unveiled a bust of former Chief Minister and DMK stalwart M Karunanidhi at Taramani, Chennai. The event was held to mark the birth centenary of the iconic leader.In a tribute that blends legacy with infrastructure, Udhayanidhi also inaugurated the newly constructed entrance arch of the Tamilarasu office and press, which functions under the state’s Information and Public Relations Department. The arch, erected at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, serves as a centenary commemoration for Karunanidhi.
The Deputy Chief Minister was joined by Tamil Development and Information Minister M P Saminathan, as well as several senior government officials. Following the unveiling, Udhayanidhi paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of his grandfather.
Prominent attendees included Chennai Mayor R Priya, Information and Public Relations Secretary V Rajaraman, Director R Vaithinathan, and Additional Director (Information) S Selvaraj.
The ceremony highlighted the enduring legacy of Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu’s political and cultural narrative.
