Suspicious Image Uploaded; Police Investigation Underway
Thane, May 11 — The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) in Maharashtra’s Thane district has reported a cyber attack on its official website, prompting a police complaint and a full-scale security response.
According to Assistant Municipal Commissioner and Public Relations Officer Ajay Sable, the breach occurred around 12.30 pm on Saturday when an unknown entity allegedly uploaded a "suspicious" image on the corporation's website.
“We have already secured our systems to prevent further intrusions and preserved all critical evidence, including server logs, screenshots, and other forensic data,” Sable said in a statement.
He added that the corporation is taking the incident seriously and has formally requested a police investigation to identify and take action against those responsible for the cyber intrusion.
Authorities are expected to conduct a forensic analysis to trace the origin and intent behind the attack. Meanwhile, the UMC has enhanced its digital security protocols to avoid future breaches.
