Amaravati, Feb 3 (PTI) – The Union Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 has allocated a record ₹9,417 crore for railway projects in Andhra Pradesh, according to a release from the South Central Railway (SCR) zone.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the budgetary provisions for the state, highlighting the significant investment aimed at bolstering railway infrastructure.
"Andhra Pradesh has been sanctioned a record budget allocation of ₹9,417 crore for the year 2025-26," the minister stated.
Vaishnaw also emphasized that the state's railway network is now 100 percent electrified, marking a milestone in its infrastructure development. Over the past decade, 1,560 km of new railway track has been laid, reinforcing connectivity and expansion efforts.
In addition, the minister noted that 73 railway stations in the state are undergoing redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a project aimed at modernizing key railway stations across the country.
The significant budgetary allocation underscores the central government's focus on improving rail connectivity and infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, promising enhanced travel experiences and economic growth in the region.
