Union Minister J P Nadda Flags Off Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2025 Celebrations

New Delhi, March 1: Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday inaugurated the Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2025 celebrations by flagging off a special chariot along with ten other vehicles carrying information about the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). The weeklong awareness campaign, aimed at promoting the benefits of affordable generic medicines, will continue across the country till March 7.

Speaking at the launch event, Nadda encouraged citizens to actively participate in the programs to raise awareness about the importance of generic medicines and their affordability under the Jan Aushadhi scheme.

Nationwide Awareness Campaign on Affordable Healthcare

March 7 is observed annually as "Jan Aushadhi Diwas" to highlight the significance of accessible and cost-effective medicines. The government has organized events across various locations in India from March 1 to March 7, 2025, to mark the occasion.

15,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras Now Operational

As per official data, 15,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) are currently operational across the country as of February 28, 2025. These centers provide quality generic medicines at significantly lower prices.

The PMBJP product basket now includes 2,047 drugs and 300 surgical equipment, all available at retail stores at prices 50 to 80 percent lower than their branded counterparts, ensuring cost-effective healthcare for all.

With this initiative, the government continues its push towards affordable and accessible healthcare, benefitting millions across India.
