Houston, Feb 2 (PTI): A United Airlines flight bound for New York was abruptly evacuated on Sunday morning after a reported engine fire during takeoff, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

United Airlines Flight 1382, scheduled to depart from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, was forced to abort takeoff at approximately 8:35 a.m. due to what the FAA described as a “reported engine issue.”

A dramatic video obtained by FOX 26 Houston captured flames visible on the aircraft’s wing. In the footage, a flight attendant could be heard instructing passengers to remain seated, while one traveler anxiously shouted, “No, it’s on fire!”

Following the incident, passengers were evacuated using both stairs and the emergency slide, according to the Houston Fire Department. Additional footage from the scene showed travelers gathered on the tarmac as emergency personnel assessed the situation.

Despite the alarming event, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. The Houston Fire Department further clarified that they did not need to extinguish any fire related to the incident.

The aircraft involved was an Airbus A319, carrying 104 passengers and five crew members. It was scheduled to fly to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

A replacement aircraft has been arranged, with the Houston Airport confirming its departure for New York at 12:30 p.m.

The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the engine malfunction.
