Phagwara, February 16 A 20-year-old engineering student from a private university here allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the ninth floor of the university building on Monday.
Police said the deceased, identified as Nikhil, a first-year student from the village of Sunnar Khurd near Phillaur, was rushed to Civil Hospital, Phagwara, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Phagwara Superintendent of Police (SP) Madhvi Sharma said that the police are investigating the matter to determine the reason that led the student to take this extreme step.
