UP Crime News: Man Kills Mother with Spear After Argument in Shahjahanpur; Another Shot Dead in Jalalabad

Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, March 7, 2025 – In a shocking incident reported from Ganpatpur village in Shahjahanpur district, a 25-year-old man allegedly killed his own mother using a spear after she attempted to intervene in a dispute between him and his wife. The accused, identified as Vinod Kumar, has been arrested by the local police.


According to Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police Rajesh S, the tragic event unfolded on Thursday evening within the jurisdiction of Nigohi police station. Vinod Kumar, known to frequently engage in domestic altercations, especially after consuming alcohol, was physically assaulting his wife when his mother, 60-year-old Naina Devi, stepped in to mediate. In a sudden fit of rage, Kumar attacked Devi with a spear, inflicting fatal injuries that led to her immediate death.


Upon receiving information, police swiftly arrived at the crime scene, took the body into custody, and arrested the accused son. A murder case has been registered against Kumar, and the victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain further details, police added.


Another Murder Reported in Jalalabad​


In an unrelated incident within the district, the bullet-ridden body of a 55-year-old man named Asaram was discovered late Thursday night on the roadside outside Kajjar Bojhi village under Jalalabad police station limits.


Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manoj Kumar Awasthi confirmed that Asaram was shot dead. Initial investigations revealed that two men, identified as Sumer and Kallu, allegedly visited Asaram’s house and persuaded him to accompany them under the pretense of smoking. Soon after, Asaram was found shot dead on the roadside.


Police have registered a case of murder against both accused. The body has also been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are ongoing.


Both incidents have triggered concern regarding rising violent crimes in Shahjahanpur, prompting local law enforcement to enhance vigilance in affected areas.
