Mahakumbh Nagar (UP), Feb 2 (PTI) – In anticipation of the massive influx of devotees arriving in Prayagraj for the sacred Basant Panchami holy dip at the Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has mobilized an extensive fleet of shuttle and reserved buses.
With the festival set for Monday, February 5, the banks of the Triveni Sangam have already witnessed an overwhelming rush of pilgrims and tourists. According to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government, by the evening of February 2, approximately 35 crore people had taken a holy dip in the river.
The Maha Kumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, continues to draw a historic number of devotees, reinforcing its spiritual and cultural significance.

Massive Transport Arrangements for Smooth Return
To facilitate the safe and organized departure of devotees, the UPSRTC has deployed 2,500 buses, operating from four specially established temporary bus stations:- 1,500 buses stationed at Jhunsi, catering to large crowds.
- 600 buses at Bela Kachhar, designated for Lucknow-bound passengers.
- 300 buses from Nehru Park, reserved for Kanpur-bound travelers.
- 100 buses serving devotees heading to Mirzapur and Banda.
Shuttle Services Every Two Minutes
In addition to long-route buses, the UPSRTC has arranged 550 shuttle buses, running at two-minute intervals to transport devotees between temporary bus stations and key locations near Mahakumbh.Special Measures to Prevent Overcrowding
