Facebook Post Claims Rafale Shot Down, Police Book Man Under National Security Law
Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), May 12 – A 27-year-old man from Mukrabpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district has been arrested for allegedly sharing a video on Facebook that supported Pakistan and falsely claimed a Rafale fighter jet of the Indian Air Force had been shot down, police confirmed on Monday.Jamaat Ali, the accused, was taken into custody and sent to jail on Sunday after police found he had uploaded the controversial video on his Facebook page. The video claimed that Pakistani forces had downed the Rafale aircraft and captured the pilot, according to Station House Officer (SHO) Anuj Kumar Tomar of Hazrat Nagar Garhi.
Further investigation revealed that Ali had also liked and shared multiple other videos deemed supportive of Pakistan, police said. These activities were cited in the First Information Report (FIR), which was filed based on a complaint by Sub-Inspector Dheerendra Kumar.
Ali has been booked under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to acts that endanger the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.
The arrest underscores the state’s strict stance on social media posts that are considered threats to national security or promote misinformation.
