Devotees Returning from Maa Purnagiri Temple Face Fatal Accident on Tanakpur Highway
Pilibhit (Uttar Pradesh), April 1 — A tragic accident occurred late Sunday night on the Pilibhit-Tanakpur Highway when a man riding on the roof of a bus died after being struck by a tree branch. Two others sustained injuries in the incident, according to local police.The bus was carrying around 60 devotees from Jargaon village in Bulandshahr, who had set out on Saturday to visit the revered Maa Purnagiri temple in Tanakpur, Uttarakhand.
On their return journey around midnight on Sunday, five of the passengers were sitting on the roof of the bus. As the vehicle moved along the highway, a low-hanging tree branch struck three of them. The driver quickly diverted the bus to Pilibhit district hospital for emergency care.
Sudhir Kumar, 32, was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors.
Injured Referred for Further Treatment
Kotwali SHO Rajeev Kumar Singh confirmed that police reached the hospital after receiving news of the accident. The two injured individuals were admitted for medical attention.Among them, Rajveer (45) was referred to a hospital in Bareilly due to the severity of his condition, while Ravi (38)remains under treatment at the district hospital in Pilibhit.
Authorities have sent the deceased's body for post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
