Nagpur, February 28: The semiconductor industry remains a cornerstone of economic growth and technological advancement, a fact emphasized by US Consulate Public Affairs Officer Brenda Soya on Friday. She highlighted the sector’s strategic significance for both the United States and India, underscoring the need for deeper collaboration.

In a statement, the US Consulate in Mumbai announced that it is spearheading a four-part roundtable series aimed at fostering US-India cooperation in semiconductor technology. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) and knowledge partner Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM), seeks to unite key stakeholders from government, academia, and the private sector. These discussions will focus on industry trends, challenges, opportunities, and policy recommendations to bolster technological innovation in the field.

The first session of the series took place in Mumbai on January 15, while the second roundtable was held in Nagpur on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Brenda Soya stressed the crucial role semiconductors play in driving economic progress and enhancing supply chain resilience. “This roundtable underscores our nations’ shared commitment to advancing technology cooperation and fostering secure supply chains,” she remarked.

The initiative comes at a time when both countries are actively working towards strengthening semiconductor manufacturing and supply chains, ensuring technological self-reliance and global competitiveness.
