In New York, on February 16, a strong partnership between India and the US in artificial intelligence (AI) offers tremendous opportunities across various sectors, including healthcare, education, job training, and digital literacy, according to a senior official at Rubrik, a major AI operations company.
Bipul Sinha, Chairman and CEO of Rubrik, made these remarks.
"I have long believed in the India-US relationship, as the US has the technological expertise, intellectual property, and scale needed for AI. India has the human resources and a large, growing economy with a population of 1.4 billion," Sinha told
Sinha will attend the India AI Impact Summit, hosted in New Delhi from February 16-20, a global gathering of leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the future of AI.
Sinha highlighted that as investment and technology drive India's growth, "the collaboration between India and the US, particularly in AI, presents enormous opportunities to improve healthcare, education, job training, digital literacy, and AI-enabled solutions for the population."
He emphasized that "technology is the key" to integrating hundreds of millions of people into the middle class.
"The partnership between America and India, especially in AI, can help American businesses provide the right technology to Indian organizations, and allow India to uplift its population into a thriving middle class," he said.
Sinha described Artificial Intelligence as the "most transformative technology of our time," with significant implications for individuals, societies, businesses, and nations.
For individuals and society, AI will focus on job training and adopting new work patterns, while for businesses, it involves both opportunities and risks.
"AI offers 100 times more opportunities and 100 times more risks, as someone can remotely control your entire business operations and cause significant damage," he explained.
For a nation, AI is particularly important when "we are in this new industrial age," and a country's presence is crucial.
"India, as a technology hub with the largest pool of technology talent, is particularly important for Indian businesses to serve the world," Sinha said.
With a population of 1.4 billion, "think about the opportunities in healthcare, education, and the many services you can provide using AI at scale," he said.
Responding to questions about the discussions he hopes to have, Sinha said his focus will be on "how to adopt agentic work at scale without taking on undue risks."
Sinha highlighted Rubrik's motto of "unleash agents, not risk," focusing on "the risks associated with agentic work, how to deploy them at scale, how to monitor and govern them, and how to ensure trust in the AI system. This includes monitoring agentic work, governance, and setting boundaries, as well as undoing mistakes," he explained.
Emphasizing the importance of these questions, Sinha said, "if you think about the Global South and the need for healthcare, education, and digital literacy, all of this requires significant trust in the AI system. Rubrik is focused on helping governments and businesses deploy agentic work at scale with trust."
Sinha also described AI as the "new industrial age," with the need for GPUs, data centers, and significant investment, which can be a challenge for many countries.
"The Indian government and businesses have made great strides in this area, and have committed around $100 billion," he said.
"India is making significant progress in data centers and the production of AI intelligence. India has a unique advantage," as AI solutions require business understanding and processes.
"India is taking a significant leap" with data center investments, government tax incentives, and infrastructure investment in AI. "I am very optimistic about the focus on AI in India," he said.
Rubrik focuses on data protection, cyber resilience, and enterprise AI acceleration. Rubrik Security Cloud secures, monitors, and recovers data, identities, and workloads across clouds, while Rubrik Agent Cloud accelerates trusted AI agent deployments at scale by monitoring and auditing agentic actions, enforcing real-time guardrails, fine-tuning for accuracy, and undoing agentic mistakes.
The high-powered event in New Delhi will be the first-ever AI summit hosted in the Global South, anchored in the three guiding principles of "People, Planet, and Progress."
Sinha said he is "very excited" to be a part of the Summit, emphasizing that the three themes – people, planet, and progress – are "very aligned."
"Because AI impacts people, the planet, and progress, we need to ensure that the progress is inclusive and trustworthy, and that it has a positive impact on billions of people," he said. "We are excited to be part of this discussion and contribute to ensuring that agentic deployments happen with confidence."
