February 12, New Delhi: Ahead of his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially joined the "Board of Peace" for Gaza during talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The United Nations Security Council, in a resolution adopted in mid-November, authorized the formation of the board and for partner countries to establish an international stabilization force in Gaza. A ceasefire in the region began in October under a plan backed by Trump, agreed upon by Israel and Hamas.
The Board of Peace is scheduled to hold its first meeting on February 19 in Washington, where members will discuss reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
