Mumbai, Feb 27 – Vani Kapoor showcased her experience and resilience to secure a hard-fought victory on Thursday's fourth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour. This marked her first win of 2025 and her first triumph since the 12th leg of the 2024 season at the DLF Golf and Country Club.

The 31-year-old golfer overcame a challenging back nine, making a decisive birdie on the Par-4 15th hole, which proved crucial in swinging the momentum in her favor. Vani, who had bogeyed the 11th and 13th holes, was trailing behind amateur golfers Saanvi Somu and Anuradha Chaudhuri at one stage. However, her birdie on the 15th and Anuradha’s bogey on the same hole resulted in a two-shot swing, shifting the leaderboard dynamics.

Saanvi, who had held the lead with five holes remaining, faltered with bogeys on the 15th, 17th, and 18th holes, allowing Vani to take control. While Saanvi and Anuradha struggled in the final stretch, Vani’s pars on the last three holes secured her victory with a final round of 1-under 69 and a score of 1-over 211.

Anuradha finished second at 2-over, while Saanvi slipped to 3-over, ending in a tie for third alongside Sneha Singh and Ridhima Dilawari. Sneha delivered the best round of the day, a bogey-free 66, while Ridhima carded a 67 with four birdies against one bogey.

Vani started strong with birdies on the first two holes and maintained steady play with eight consecutive pars before facing setbacks on the 11th and 13th. Her clutch birdie on the 15th ultimately sealed the win.

Sneha Singh, who had won two of the three previous legs, finished tied for third and continues to lead the Hero Order of Merit with winnings of ₹5,76,900. Vani’s victory propelled her to second place with ₹4,54,000, while Jasmine Shekar is third with ₹3,26,500.

It was also a remarkable tournament for amateur golfers, with four finishing in the Top 10. Notably, Saanvi and Mannat Brar, who finished in the top ranks, will head to the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Championships in Vietnam next week.

The Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour continues to be a competitive platform, with seasoned professionals and rising amateur talents vying for top honors in the season ahead.
