Antalya (Turkey), May 10 — Indian golfer Veer Ahlawat failed to make the cut at the Turkish Airlines Open after rounds of 75 and 73, finishing at six-over-par — well outside the cut line of one-under.
The event marked Ahlawat’s return to competition following a six-week break. Despite his efforts, the Delhi golfer struggled for rhythm across the two rounds. In his second round on Friday, he carded two birdies, two bogeys, and a costly double bogey, resulting in a two-over 73.
With this result, Ahlawat bows out early and now awaits confirmation of his participation in the upcoming Soudal Open, where he remains on the waiting list. Meanwhile, Shubhankar Sharma is set to return to action at the Belgium event.
At the top of the leaderboard, 22-year-old Martin Couvra of France surged ahead to claim a two-stroke lead going into the weekend. Couvra, who began the day in a three-way tie for the lead, posted an impressive five-under 66 at Regnum Carya to reach 11-under overall as he chases his maiden DP World Tour title.
Wilco Nienaber of South Africa trails at nine-under, while Li Haotong of China sits third at eight-under, keeping the race open heading into the final rounds.
