Vice President Dhankhar Compares Operation Sindoor to US Raid on Osama bin Laden.webp

New Delhi, May 17 – Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday likened India’s recent cross-border counter-terrorism action, Operation Sindoor, to the United States' operation that eliminated Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

Speaking at an event organized by Jaipuria institutions in the capital, Dhankhar described the strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan as India’s "deepest-ever cross-border strike." He drew a direct parallel to the U.S. Navy SEAL raid on May 2, 2011, which killed the mastermind behind the September 11 attacks.

"Without naming him, a global terrorist who orchestrated the 9/11 attacks was dealt with by the US on foreign soil. Bharat has done it too — and done it to the knowledge of the world," he said.

Operation Sindoor: A Global Message Against Terrorism

Dhankhar hailed the operation as a new "global benchmark" in combating terrorism, executed with surgical precision while upholding India’s commitment to peace. He asserted that the strikes targeted only terrorist operatives, specifically strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, deep across the International Border.

"This marks the first time such precise, deep strikes have been carried out on terror bases across the border. Only terrorists were harmed — not civilians," he noted.

Strong Message After Pahalgam Attack

Referring to the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam, which claimed at least 26 civilian lives, Dhankhar said it was the worst attack on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had issued a strong message to the international community from Bihar in the immediate aftermath of the Pahalgam incident. "Those were not empty words. The world has now realised the seriousness of our intent," Dhankhar added.

The Vice President's remarks reflect India's intensified stance against terrorism and underline its readiness to take bold action when required, while reinforcing its global message of zero tolerance towards terror networks.
