New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday emphasized that India cannot afford to shelter millions of illegal migrants and must safeguard its electoral politics from demographic disruptions. Addressing the World Forum of Accountants (WOFA) conference in the national capital, he urged the youth to counter anti-national narratives and remain vigilant against threats to national integrity.

Dhankhar, who also serves as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, expressed concern over frequent disruptions in Parliament, cautioning against forces attempting to destabilize the nation's progress.

“Our nation cannot afford to have millions of illegal migrants… We cannot allow our electoral politics to be disturbed by demographic dislocations and earthquakes,” he stated, stressing that these challenges will ultimately need to be addressed by the younger generation.

Without further elaboration, he cryptically added, "Samajdhar ko ishaara kaafi hai" (A hint is enough for an informed person), implying deeper implications in his remarks.

Concerns Over Distorted Narratives

Dhankhar also warned against certain forces that, according to him, are uncomfortable with India’s development and resort to creating misleading narratives.

"Narratives mein Bharatiyata ko bhool jaate hain, rashtravaad ko bhool jaate hain, rashtrahit ko bhool jaate hain" (In these narratives, national identity, nationalism, and national interest are forgotten), he remarked.

Calling upon the youth to take charge, he asserted that they have the power to neutralize such narratives and counter forces hostile to India's progress.

Advocating Economic Nationalism

At the conference, organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Vice President underscored the importance of economic nationalism. He urged Indian chartered accountants and firms to expand their presence globally, highlighting the role of financial professionals in strengthening the nation’s economy.

Dhankhar’s address comes at a time of growing discourse around migration policies, national security, and electoral stability, reinforcing the need for vigilant civic participation in shaping the country’s future.
