Salem, February 13 Without naming the AIADMK, TVK chief Vijay defended his party's stance of not attacking it on Friday, suggesting that the main opposition party in Tamil Nadu has been rejected by the people.
More specifically, he said that the 2026 Assembly elections are a contest between his party and the DMK.
Addressing a rally here, Vijay responded to a key criticism leveled against him. Avoiding any direct naming of parties, he said that he was being asked why he was only targeting the DMK and not the AIADMK.
He asked: "This is an election for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Who is in power here now? Who makes false promises and deceives the people? Who is running this anti-people government? So, who should be removed?
He then questioned: "If we want to remove this anti-people DMK government, who should we oppose? Why unnecessarily talk about those who have already been rejected by the people many times? When our focus is on the DMK, why throw stones into the darkness?
Further, he said: "See, do you want Vijay, who loves the people, or do you want Stalin sir, who runs an anti-people government? That's all, and this election is about only that. There is no one else in between, do you understand?
Finally, he asked: "Do you believe in Vijay, or do you believe in Stalin sir?
When the crowd chanted Vijay's name, he replied that it was over, and used the popular Rajinikanth film dialogue, "Katham" (meaning finished).
Regarding the cancellation of Group-2 government exams a few days ago, Vijay said that when the DMK government did not even know how to conduct exams, it was claiming that its regime was competing with world nations.
He promised transparent solutions to ensure job opportunities for the youth.
