Victim Attacked During Late-Night Village Event; Police Launch Search Operation​

Bijapur, May 12 – In a tragic incident of violence, a villager was brutally killed by suspected Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Sunday night, according to police sources.

The victim, identified as Naga Bhandari, was attacked around 11:30 pm while attending a local event in Lingapur village under the jurisdiction of Usur police station. Officials reported that a group of unidentified Naxalites targeted Bhandari and fatally assaulted him with an axe.

Bhandari, a resident of Marudbaka village, was known in the area as a fair-price shop owner.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police authorities immediately dispatched a team to the scene. A search operation has since been launched in and around Lingapur to trace and apprehend the attackers.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing, and investigations are ongoing.
