Thane, May 12 – In a chilling incident, the body of a 40-year-old watchman was discovered stuffed inside a drum within the premises of a housing society in the Mira Road area on Monday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances of his death.
According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Prakash Singh. His body was found naked and half-immersed in the drum, raising suspicions of foul play.
Singh's sister stated that he had consumed alcohol and slept on the society premises on Sunday night. "This morning, his naked body was found dumped in a half-immersed position," she told authorities.
Adding to the concerns, several residents of the society revealed that the CCTV cameras installed in the complex were not operational, potentially hampering investigative efforts.
At present, the police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the exact cause and nature of Singh's demise.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to probe the incident.
