Rajasthan Assembly Deadlock Ends After CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s Intervention
Jaipur, February 27: The nearly weeklong stalemate in the Rajasthan Assembly over state minister Avinash Gehlot’s remarks on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi came to an end on Thursday after Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stepped in to resolve the issue.
Sharma convened a meeting in the Speaker’s chamber with Speaker Vasudev Devnani and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully to address the situation. Following the discussions, the deadlock was lifted, allowing Congress legislators to re-enter the House and participate in the proceedings.
Expressing gratitude for Sharma’s efforts, Jully acknowledged the Chief Minister’s role in facilitating a resolution. He also extended an apology on behalf of Congress MLA Govind Singh Dotasra for his conduct towards the Speaker and the language he had used.
Emphasizing the need for smooth legislative functioning, Sharma remarked that while disagreements may arise, prolonged disruptions should be avoided to ensure effective governance.
