Kolkata, May 11 – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended warm wishes on the occasion of Mother's Day, paying an emotional tribute to all mothers and especially remembering her own late mother.
In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Banerjee wrote, “Mom is my mother. On Mother's Day, I salute all mothers from the bottom of my heart.”
Reflecting on the essence of motherhood, she added, “Mother — the sweetest name in the world. Be it the mother of birth or the motherland — she is our inspiration, our love, our passion. She is present throughout our entire being.”
Banerjee, known for her deep emotional bond with her mother, noted that many of her personal and professional initiatives were inspired by her. “I have remembered and paid homage to my mother in many of my projects. The beginning of 'Mother - Earth - Manush' is with my mother!” she said, referring to her party's core slogan that translates to “Mother, Land and People.”
The Chief Minister also shared that she has paid tribute to mothers through her artistic expressions, including songs and poems, and included a few lines from one such composition in her post.
Mother's Day is celebrated worldwide to honour the influence of mothers, motherhood, and maternal bonds in shaping families and society.
