Eight Killed, Including Four Children, in Tragic Blast in South 24 Parganas​

Kolkata, April 1 — West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose expressed deep sorrow over the tragic blast that claimed eight lives, including four children, at Dholahat in Pathar Pratima, South 24 Parganas district. The incident occurred on Monday night, reportedly due to a gas cylinder explosion in a residential house.

Speaking on Tuesday, Governor Bose emphasized the need for strict vigilance and proactive governance to prevent such disasters in the future.

"Accidents are not accidental. There is some human failure behind it. The primary responsibility to prevent accidents and enforce the law relating to this is with the government. The officials have to be very vigilant, and they should take more proactive steps in this regard," he stated.

Governor Stresses Accountability and Proactive Governance​

In his remarks, Bose underscored the importance of enforcement and responsibility at the administrative level, noting that lapses often lead to such fatal outcomes.

Offering his condolences, he said, "We express our solidarity with the bereaved family."

The police have attributed the explosion to a gas cylinder blast, but further investigation may follow as the situation continues to unfold.

Possible Visit to Affected Area Under Consideration​

Governor Bose, who has reviewed the situation, mentioned he is contemplating a visit to Pathar Pratima after further assessment.

"We will take all necessary steps to see that such unfortunate incidents are warded off in the future," he assured.
The incident has sparked concern across the state, prompting calls for stronger safety measures and heightened awareness around domestic gas handling.
