Kolkata, February 27: The West Bengal Higher Secondary Examinations 2024 are set to commence on March 3, with over 5.09 lakh students registered to appear, according to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE).

This year’s candidate count has seen a significant dip from 7.90 lakh in 2023. Among the examinees, 2.77 lakh are female students, reflecting a continued strong participation of girls in the state’s education system, said WBCHSE President Chiranjib Bhattacharjee in a media briefing on Wednesday.

To maintain the integrity of the exams, 2,089 examination centers will be equipped with CCTV cameras to monitor and curb any unfair practices. Additionally, the question papers and answer sheets will incorporate QR codes and barcodes to detect and prevent unauthorized circulation of exam materials.

The examinations will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM each day and will conclude on March 18. Notably, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science have been introduced as new subjects this year, expanding the academic scope to align with emerging technological fields.

With heightened security measures and a streamlined approach, the West Bengal Higher Secondary Examinations 2024 aim to ensure a smooth and fair assessment process for students across the state.
