
KUPWARA, January 15: The Lolab Winter Festival concluded on a high note in Kariwan, Devar Lolab, drawing thousands of visitors and showcasing the scenic beauty and cultural richness of the Lolab Valley.
The festival was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, in the presence of the SSP of Kupwara, Syed Al-Tahir Gilani, and other senior officials from the civil, police, and army departments.
Featuring cultural performances, including folk music by Shafi Sopori and Khushnaseeb Bukhari, the event also hosted snow volleyball and tug-of-war competitions. Local artisans displayed handicrafts, promoting the region's creative heritage.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted Lolab's potential as a year-round tourism destination and said that the festival promotes culture, local talent, and economic growth.
The event also featured stalls promoting government schemes, awareness activities under the Nasha Mukht JK Abhiyan (JK Campaign to Combat Drug Addiction), and a tree plantation drive led by district officials.
The festival has become a significant addition to Kupwara's tourism calendar, boosting local businesses and community participation.
