Thane, March 3: In a shocking incident reported from Maharashtra's Thane district, police have filed a case against a woman who allegedly hurled casteist abuses at her neighbours and assaulted their three minor children after a confrontation over her pet dog.
The incident occurred in Shahapur area when a group of local women approached the accused on Friday, complaining about disturbances caused by her pet dog. However, instead of resolving the issue amicably, the accused reportedly reacted violently, using abusive and casteist language against the complainants, according to an official from Shahapur police station.
The situation escalated when the woman turned her anger towards her neighbours' children, accusing them of creating noise that was allegedly disturbing her pet. In a fit of rage, she allegedly assaulted three minors, aged 3, 7, and 8 years, inflicting injuries.
Acting on the complaint filed by the victims' families, Shahapur police have registered a case against the accused woman under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
"We have lodged a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. However, no arrest has been made yet," the police official stated.
The probe is ongoing, and further action will be determined based on the findings of the investigation.
