Gurugram, Feb 2 (PTI): A late-night tragedy unfolded on the Pataudi-Jamalpur road when a car carrying a young couple caught fire, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old woman. Her husband, who was also trapped in the vehicle, was rescued by bystanders and rushed to the hospital, police confirmed on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Neetu (22), was traveling with her husband Pawan when the incident occurred around midnight on Saturday. According to fire department officer Lalit Kumar, the couple was on their way back to their village, Jhundsarai, when smoke suddenly started billowing from their car. Within moments, the vehicle was engulfed in flames, leaving both trapped inside.
Eyewitnesses quickly intervened, breaking a window to pull Pawan to safety. However, Neetu was unable to escape in time and was tragically burned alive before rescue teams could arrive.
Upon receiving the distress call, fire brigade and police teams rushed to the scene, managing to douse the flames within minutes. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, Neetu had already succumbed to the fire, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have handed over her body to the family after a post-mortem examination on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a massive fire broke out at a company’s office in IMT Manesar late Saturday night. Firefighters battled the blaze for over two hours before bringing it under control. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, a fire department official confirmed.
Authorities are investigating both incidents to determine the exact causes of the fires.
