New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – A wedding celebration in northeast Delhi’s Gokalpuri took a violent turn when an argument over space for a passing car escalated into a brawl, leaving a woman injured, police reported on Monday.
The incident occurred late Sunday night at Ambedkar Bhavan, where guests at a marriage function were caught in a heated dispute after a vehicle was unable to navigate through the baraat (wedding procession). According to a senior police officer, tempers flared between the vehicle’s driver and members of the groom’s side, leading to a chaotic scene.
During the altercation, glasses and water bottles were hurled at guests, resulting in injuries to a woman. She was promptly taken to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for medical attention and was discharged after receiving treatment, the officer added.
Following an investigation, police registered a case at Gokalpuri police station and arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Ompal in connection with the incident. Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway.
