Ambala, May 10 – A devastating fire broke out in slum huts near the market committee office of Shahzadpur on Saturday, claiming the life of a 60-year-old woman and leaving two others critically injured, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Radha Devi, who was unable to escape the fast-spreading blaze. According to officials, the fire erupted suddenly and quickly engulfed several makeshift huts, trapping some residents inside while others managed to flee.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the fire brigade successfully brought the flames under control. However, by the time firefighters intervened, significant damage had already been done.
The two injured individuals were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition, authorities confirmed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation by local police.
