Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh – March 1: A woman advocate was allegedly attacked with an inflammable substance by two men inside the premises of a court in Moradabad's Thakurdwara tehsil on Thursday morning. The victim identified the accused as Sachin Kumar and his relative, Nitin Kumar, residents of Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand.

The incident unfolded around 10:30 AM when Advocate Shashibala was dropped near the main gate of the court by her tenant, Satyendra. In her police complaint, Shashibala stated that within a minute, Sachin Kumar and Nitin Kumar, who were reportedly hiding nearby, suddenly emerged and threw an inflammable substance on her from behind.

In a further shocking revelation, Shashibala alleged that one of the assailants placed a country-made pistol against her temple, threatening, "today we will give you a very good gift." However, as she raised an alarm, alerting other lawyers nearby, both attackers managed to flee the scene.

According to initial reports, the chemical thrown by the attackers burned parts of Shashibala's body and damaged her clothing. The lawyer stated that she is currently representing multiple cases against Sachin and Nitin in Thakurdwara court, suggesting personal enmity as a possible motive behind the attack.

Moradabad police have registered a case against the duo under Sections 124(1) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid or other substances) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS at Thakurdwara Police Station.

Superintendent of Police (Rural), Kunwar Akash Singh, however, indicated a different angle to the investigation. "The incident seems suspicious. CCTV footage places the accused at a different location during the time of the attack. Moreover, the substance involved is not acid, as confirmed by medical examinations. Investigations are ongoing," said Singh.

Police further disclosed that Sachin and Nitin were spotted entering the district from Kashipur in Uttarakhand, taking the same route to return.

Authorities continue to probe the matter to uncover additional details and confirm the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
