Audio Clip Surfaces as Advocate Shyamily Criticises Bar Association Amid Ongoing Investigation

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 – A woman lawyer, who was allegedly assaulted by her senior advocate earlier this week, has accused some members of the Bar Association of spreading false narratives against her. The accusation emerged through an audio message purportedly shared by the advocate, Shyamily, in the WhatsApp group of the District Bar Association on Friday evening.

In the audio clip, aired by several television channels, Shyamily can be heard expressing disappointment in her colleagues, stating that it has become evident they would not support her through the ordeal. She, however, clarified that she is not blaming all members, but targeted those she believes are "cooking up baseless stories and spreading information they have no knowledge about."

"My evidence is on my face," she said in the clip, referencing the injuries she sustained, allegedly during the assault by senior advocate Beylin Das. She added that society at large has supported her and that she has already found a form of justice through the arrest of the accused.

Shyamily also warned members of the Bar Association that she would approach the media to expose what she called “ongoing propaganda” against her.

The remarks respond to discussions within the Bar’s WhatsApp group, where some members reportedly raised allegations against her. These conversations prompted her to voice her protest publicly.

The Bar Association office bearers were unavailable for comment.

The assault reportedly took place on Tuesday at the senior advocate's office near the district court in Vanchiyoor. Following the incident, Shyamily was hospitalised with serious facial injuries and subsequently filed a police complaint against Beylin Das.

She has further alleged that this was not the first instance of violence, claiming that Das had assaulted her previously while she was five months pregnant.

The accused has been arrested and charged under non-bailable sections. In response to the incident, the Kerala Bar Council on Wednesday temporarily barred Das from practicing law.
