Tragedy Strikes Laxmanpur Lal Nagar Village as Two Women Take Their Lives Within Minutes
Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), May 10 — In a heart-wrenching incident, a 35-year-old woman and her 62-year-old mother-in-law allegedly died by suicide within minutes of each other following a prolonged family dispute in Laxmanpur Lal Nagar village, officials said on Saturday.The incident occurred on Friday evening. According to Sheshmani Pandey, Station Officer of Itiyathok police station, Sangeeta Devi ended her life by hanging herself with a saree inside her home. Just ten minutes later, her mother-in-law, Chhotaka Devi, reportedly went to a nearby field and also hanged herself from a tree.
At the time of the incident, Sangeeta’s toddler and Chhotaka Devi’s physically challenged husband were the only others present at home. Disturbed by the child’s continuous cries, neighbors broke open the door but found Sangeeta already deceased.
Police said that Sangeeta’s husband and her three brothers-in-law were working outside the village when the tragedy occurred. They have since been informed, and both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the dual suicides.
