New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday highlighted the remarkable achievements of women-led startups in India, stating that they are making a significant impact on the global stage. He emphasized that even in traditionally challenging sectors like space exploration, women-led projects have garnered international recognition.
Citing the example of India’s solar mission Aditya L1, Singh praised the leadership of Nigar Shaji, who has earned the moniker "Sunny Lady" of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
"Women-led development is a key priority in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance agenda," Singh stated, underlining the government’s vision of empowering women entrepreneurs to position India on the global map.
Addressing a delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry-Ladies Organisation (FICCI-FLO), led by Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO) Delhi President Payal Kanodia, Singh said that Modi envisions Indian startups spearheading global innovation, with women-led businesses taking the lead across various industries.
He further pointed out that since 2014, women's empowerment has transitioned from a concept to practical implementation. Various government welfare initiatives, including PM MUDRA and PM Vishwakarma, have significantly benefited women entrepreneurs, providing them with opportunities to thrive in business and leadership roles.
The minister stressed that under Modi’s leadership, women entrepreneurship has been promoted extensively, enabling women to take on leadership positions in diverse fields beyond traditional participatory roles.
Moreover, Singh highlighted the government's proactive efforts in creating employment opportunities for the youth by launching various schemes and revolutionizing the nation’s work culture. By integrating India’s traditional strengths with modern innovations, the government aims to harness the country’s diversity for economic growth.
The discussion reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering an ecosystem where women-led startups can thrive and contribute to India's rising global influence.
