
Wellington, February 14 India's Guntas Sandhu played another consistent round of 1-under 71, as did her teammate Ananyaa Sood (71) on the third day of the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) tournament here.
Sandhu, who has been the leading Indian, is now tied for 17th place with scores of 71-73-71, resulting in a score of 1-under over three days.
Sood (74-75-71) achieved her best score of the week and finished 4-over, placing her in 35th place.
Zara Anand and Jia Kataria had already missed the cut.
Yunseo Yang of South Korea survived a challenging round to maintain her position as the top contender, aiming to end her country's WAAP victory drought.
The 18-year-old player experienced a wide range of emotions during her round three at Royal Wellington, finishing with an even-par 72.
After being 3-over after the first seven holes, the teenager produced a remarkable comeback, completing the final 11 holes in 3-under to maintain her lead for the third day in a row.
Heading into Sunday's final round, Yang leads the pack with a score of 13-under-par 203, two strokes ahead of her compatriots Gyu Been Kim and Soomin Oh.
Kim, who had led for much of the day and missed birdie opportunities at 14 and 15, made a quadruple bogey on the final green with a score of 71.
Oh, who was the runner-up last year, achieved a score of 67, including a spectacular shot on the par-5 10th, a seven-wood from 218 yards that stopped just short of dropping into the cup for an albatross-two.
Rianne Malixi of the Philippines remains a strong contender.
Malixi, who scored 73, finished fourth with a score of 9-under 207.
