Gandhinagar, March 7: In a historic first, the security for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming mega event in Gujarat’s Navsari district will be entirely managed by an all-women police force. The groundbreaking initiative coincides with International Women’s Day on March 8, showcasing Gujarat’s commitment to empowering women in key roles, said Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi on Thursday.
Minister Sanghavi described this unprecedented step as a proud moment, stating, “The Gujarat police is taking a unique initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The comprehensive security arrangement will include female officers from all ranks within the Gujarat Police force. More than 2,100 constables, 187 sub-inspectors, 61 inspectors, 16 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), five Superintendents of Police (SPs), an Inspector General (IG) of Police, and one Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) will participate in the security cover.
Senior IPS officer and Gujarat Home Secretary, Nipuna Torawane, will oversee the meticulous security preparations, ensuring smooth management throughout the Prime Minister’s visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, scheduled for Friday and Saturday. His key event, the 'Lakhpti Didi Sammelan', will take place at Vansi Borsi village on March 8, marking International Women's Day.
Emphasizing the broader significance of this historic deployment, Minister Sanghavi highlighted, “This initiative will send a strong message to the world on Women's Day. It showcases the pivotal role women are playing in making Gujarat a safer and more secure state.”
