Yellow Weather Warning Issued in Himachal Pradesh for Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds till Monday

Shimla, May 10 – The Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' warning for nine districts in Himachal Pradesh, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds through Monday.

According to the Met Office, isolated places across the state are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds ranging between 30 and 50 km/h. The warning applies to all districts except Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur.

Rainfall Across the State​

Light to moderate rain showers were recorded in several areas, with Shilaroo receiving the highest rainfall at 43.6 mm. This was followed by:
  • Jubberhatti: 34.5 mm
  • Kataula: 29.3 mm
  • Jatto Barrag: 22 mm
  • Mandi: 21.2 mm
  • Sarahan: 19.5 mm
  • Narkanda: 16 mm
  • Shimla: 12.4 mm
  • Chopal: 10 mm
Thunderstorms were specifically observed in Shimla, Jubberhatti, Murari Devi, and Sundernagar.

Forecast Ahead​

The weather department also projected a continued wet spell at isolated locations across the state until May 16. Despite the rainfall, there has been no significant change in minimum temperatures.

Kukumseri in the tribal Lahaul and Spiti district remained the coldest region, registering a nighttime low of 4.8°C.
