Says NDA Will Return to Power in Bihar Under Modi-Nitish Leadership
Lucknow, April 1 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, claiming it has lost touch with its founding principles and is headed for political extinction. In a strongly worded interview, Adityanath said the Congress is “writing its own death certificate” and has no future in Indian politics. He criticized the party’s trajectory, saying, “The path the Congress has adopted leaves no possibility for it to grow or flourish further. When a party strays from its values and origins, it faces an existential crisis. The biggest example of that today is the Congress.”
"Congress Has Lost People's Support"
Adityanath argued that public sentiment has turned against the Congress due to its detachment from national values and priorities.“During the freedom struggle, the Congress was considered the soul of India. But in independent India, it began to play with people’s sentiments,” he said.
Blaming the party leadership, he added, “Rahul Gandhi and others who decide Congress policies are responsible for this downfall.”
Allegations on Constitutional Amendments and Media Suppression
The chief minister accused Congress of undermining key constitutional values, stating the party amended the Constitution to suppress press freedom and inserted Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir for political gain.“By 1976, Indira Gandhi went as far as to strangle the Constitution itself. The Congress has continuously moved in that direction,” he remarked. “Instead of solving issues, it has only given more problems to the country.”
"Modi Government Resolved Long-Standing Issues"
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led NDA, Adityanath pointed to landmark decisions like the resolution of the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute, abolition of triple talaq, and the revocation of Article 370.“These could have been resolved decades ago. But it was Modi ji who had the conviction to act on them,” he said.
NDA Confident of Victory in Bihar
Turning to upcoming elections in Bihar, Adityanath expressed confidence in the NDA's return to power under the joint leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.“The BJP has already made it clear that the NDA government will be formed again in Bihar under Modi ji at the Centre and Nitish ji in the state,” he asserted. The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled for later this year.
On Delimitation Concerns
Responding to concerns raised by some southern parties regarding possible seat losses due to delimitation, Adityanath downplayed the issue.“There is nothing left to question after the statement made by Home Minister Amit Shah. Politics may be played over the issue, but everything has been clarified,” he concluded.
