Your vote is foundation of your children's bright future: Kejriwal to Delhi voters

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) — As Delhi gears up for its highly anticipated assembly elections, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made a heartfelt appeal to the city’s voters, urging them to recognise the weight of their vote in shaping Delhi's future.

In a message shared on social media platform X, Kejriwal emphasized the crucial role of the electorate in determining the city’s development. He wrote, “Your vote is not just a button, it is the foundation of your children's bright future. It is an opportunity to provide good schools, excellent hospitals, and a respectable life to every family.”

The appeal came as voting began across Delhi, with an electorate of around 1.56 crore casting their ballots to decide the future direction of the capital’s governance.

Kejriwal further urged citizens to make a moral choice, highlighting the importance of selecting "truth, development, and honesty" over "the politics of lies, hatred, and fear." He also called on voters not only to vote themselves but to inspire their friends, families, and neighbours to do the same.

"Hooliganism will lose, Delhi will win," Kejriwal asserted, drawing attention to his commitment to a peaceful, progressive campaign.

Echoing Kejriwal’s sentiments, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi also took to social media, framing the election as a battle between good and evil. She described it as “a battle between work and hooliganism,” urging voters to support progress and the forces of “goodness.”

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva made his own appeal to the public, calling for support for the BJP’s vision of a "clean, well-governed, and prosperous" Delhi under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of voting for the BJP’s lotus symbol, describing it as key to strengthening the "double-engine government" that promises to lead Delhi toward a brighter future.

On the other hand, Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit, who is contesting against Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers to protect their rights and preserve the city’s democratic values.

With polling ongoing throughout the day, lasting until 6 pm, the election is proving to be fiercely contested. The three main political parties — AAP, BJP, and Congress — are all making a strong case for leadership, and the stakes couldn’t be higher for Delhi’s future governance.

Polling is taking place across 13,766 stations in the 70 assembly constituencies, with a total of 699 candidates vying for a chance to lead. The results will be announced on February 8, marking the conclusion of this pivotal election.
