Mangaluru, Karnataka, May 17 – A youth was seriously injured after being stabbed by a group of four men near the Akkarangaadi bus stop in Panemangalore, located in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, police confirmed on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Hameed, works as a painter and was reportedly standing by the roadside on Friday night when the attack occurred. According to police officials, he was assaulted with a knife, allegedly by a group led by an individual named Harris. Preliminary investigations point to personal enmity as the suspected motive behind the assault.

Hameed sustained severe injuries to his hand and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru by local residents for treatment.

The incident has sparked tension in the area, which had only recently regained calm following the high-profile murder of Hindutva activist and rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty in the same district.

Authorities have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Security has been stepped up to prevent further unrest in the region.
