Supernatural Murder Mystery Set in the 90s to Premiere on Regional Platform
Bengaluru, April 11 – Video streaming platform Zee5 has announced the debut of its first-ever Kannada original mini-series, Ayyana Mane, a supernatural murder mystery scheduled to premiere on April 25. The series is helmed by acclaimed director Ramesh Indira and produced by Shruthi Naidu Productions.
A Journey of Fear, Faith, and Family Secrets
Sharing insights into the series, director Ramesh Indira remarked, “With Ayyana Mane, I wanted to create more than just a mystery; I wanted to take the audience on a journey where fear, faith, and family secrets intertwine.”
Set against the eerie backdrop of the 1990s, the narrative is deeply rooted in Kannada culture, weaving together themes of tradition, belief, and the darkness hidden within the familiar. “The house itself becomes a character, hiding secrets within its walls,” Indira added.
Plot: Deaths, Deities, and the Darkness in Chikkamagaluru
Set in the misty hills of Chikkamagaluru, the story revolves around the influential Ayyana Mane family, whose legacy is haunted by a chilling mystery — the mysterious deaths of three daughters-in-law, each incident mysteriously linked to the family’s revered deity, Kondayya.
The plot follows Jaji (played by Kushee Ravi), who marries into the family, expecting a new beginning. However, what starts as hope soon descends into a nightmarish spiral of fear and secrets.
Stellar Cast and Cultural Depth
The mini-series features a talented cast including Kushee Ravi, Akshya Nayak, and Mansi Sudhir. Zee5's statement highlighted that Ayyana Mane is not only a gripping thriller but also an ode to the rich cultural fabric of Karnataka.
Zee5’s Push for Regional Storytelling
A Zee5 spokesperson expressed enthusiasm about the platform’s growing regional content strategy, stating, “Ayyana Mane is just the beginning. We have more compelling Kannada content lined up. Kannada cinema has a legacy of powerful storytelling, and we are thrilled to bring such narratives to the forefront.”
With Ayyana Mane, Zee5 looks to captivate audiences with a story that blends supernatural suspense with cultural depth, setting a promising precedent for its regional content expansion.
