New Delhi, March 13 The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reviewed the enforcement actions taken by the government in Delhi-NCR and Punjab, in accordance with its directions aimed at reducing air pollution in the region.

The commission's sub-committee held a meeting to examine the actions taken by the governments in the Delhi-NCR region and Punjab, concerning vehicles, road dust, construction and demolition waste, stubble burning, municipal solid waste, etc.

"During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on sector-specific enforcement measures and the progress made by the concerned implementing agencies in compliance with the statutory directions/advisories/orders issued by the commission towards reducing air pollution in the region," an official said.

Regarding pollution from vehicles, the CAQM reviewed measures taken by concerned agencies to decongest traffic points, minimize congestion, and reduce vehicular emissions.

The commission also assessed the status of the collection, transportation, processing, and management of construction and demolition waste.

"The implementation of CAQM's statutory direction number 92, which mandates the use of paddy straw-based biomass pellets for brick kilns (aiming for 50% adoption by November 2028) located in Punjab and non-NCR districts of Haryana for preventing and controlling paddy stubble burning, was also reviewed," the official said.

The meeting also reviewed the timely resolution of complaints received on social media and forwarded to the concerned agencies.
