New Delhi, April 9 The Centre has invited applications from eligible candidates to fill the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner in the vigilance watchdog, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
"It is proposed to appoint the Central Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to fill the vacancy that will arise from August 3, 2026, upon the completion of the incumbent's tenure," a statement issued by the Ministry of Personnel said.
Praveen Kumar Srivastava, a retired Indian Administrative Service officer (1988 batch) from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is currently serving as the Central Vigilance Commissioner.
Citing eligibility criteria, the Ministry stated that the Central Vigilance Commissioner would be selected from among individuals who have served or are serving in all-India service or any civil service of the Union or in a civil post under the Union, possessing knowledge and experience in matters related to vigilance, policy making, and administration, including police administration.
Individuals who have held or are holding positions in a corporation established under or by any central Act, or a government-owned or controlled company, as well as those with expertise and experience in finance, including insurance and banking, law, vigilance, and investigation, are also eligible for the post, it said.
"All applicants should be of outstanding merit and impeccable integrity, and should possess knowledge and at least 25 years of experience in the relevant field(s)," the order dated April 8 stated.
The Central Vigilance Commissioner will hold office for a term of four years from the date of appointment or attainment of the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, it said.
Individuals meeting the criteria for appointment may submit their applications in the prescribed format to the Department of Personnel and Training, Kartavya Bhawan - 3, New Delhi, by May 18, 2026.
"Applications received after the deadline will not be considered," it added.
