The National Commission for Women (NCW) has announced the organization of a nationwide "Mahila Jan Sunwai" (Women's Grievance Hearing) starting from March 8, 2026, as part of its flagship outreach program, "Rashtriya Mahila Aayog Aapke Dwaar" (National Women's Commission at Your Doorstep). Addressing the media in New Delhi, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said that the week-long program will be conducted in collaboration with State Women Commissions. She stated that it will be held across the country, covering nearly 500 districts in 25 States and Union Territories, making it one of the largest coordinated public grievance redressal drives for women. The states include Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Jharkhand, and Tripura. She said that this initiative reflects the Commission's commitment to ensuring that every woman, regardless of her location, has access to justice and institutional support. She added that through these "Jan Sunwais," the NCW aims to listen to the concerns of women and resolve their grievances. She further stated that through this nationwide effort, the Commission aims to address and resolve nearly 15,000 complaints and to provide timely support to the victims and strengthen institutional response mechanisms.
