March 14, New Delhi: Ahead of the state assembly elections, the Kerala government has reversed its previous stance on women's entry into the Sabarimala Temple.
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government will now inform the Supreme Court of India that traditional temple practices must be respected, meaning women under the age of 50 should not be allowed inside the shrine.
The state government stated that its revised position is aimed at protecting the long-standing religious customs and traditions associated with Sabarimala.
